Code of Conduct
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Curious Adult Market is a shame-free space. Come curious, be kind, and ask before you touch. This code applies to everyone: shoppers, vendors, staff and volunteers.
The short version
- Ask first. People, products, photos. If the answer isn't a clear yes, it's a no.
- No judgement. Everyone's here for their own reasons. Don't comment on what people browse, buy, wear or look like.
- Adults only. Strictly 18+. Bring photo ID.
- Look after each other. If something feels off, tell us.
Consent
- Don't touch another person without their clear, enthusiastic permission. That includes hugs, compliments that turn into touching, and "just checking" a costume.
- Ask the vendor before handling products. Some items are display only for hygiene reasons.
- A no, a hesitation or silence means stop. You don't need to ask why.
- Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Photography and privacy
- Photos of stalls and products are fine once the vendor says yes.
- Never photograph or film another person without their consent. Some people here value their privacy for very good reasons.
- Our official photographer wears a marked lanyard. Say no and they won't photograph you.
- Don't share who you saw at the market. What happens here is nobody else's business.
Respect
We don't tolerate harassment, discrimination, or disrespect towards anyone for their body, gender, sexuality, relationship style, interests or background. That includes jokes at someone's expense.
Keeping it market-friendly
- Clothing is required. Costumes and statement outfits are welcome; just keep everything covered that should be.
- Keep it market-appropriate: nothing intimate happens at the market.
- Demonstrations stay fully clothed and appropriate, on willing adults only.
- No alcohol or drugs. We'll refuse entry to anyone who is visibly intoxicated.
If something goes wrong
Find an organiser wearing a gold lanyard, or email comein@curiousadultmarket.co.nz afterwards. We'll listen, take it seriously and keep it confidential. You don't need proof to report something. In an emergency, call 111.
What happens if someone breaks the code
Depending on what happened, we may give a warning, ask the person to leave, or ban them from future markets. People asked to leave don't get a refund. If a law may have been broken, we may contact the Police.
